She’s almost a year old and ready to hike like a big girl now. After previously sticking to local urban trails, the two of us headed out this morning to a country park and hiked about four miles. Not too shabby for such little legs. These longer legs need longer trails though. Maybe next weekend.

Her big present is coming up next weekend — lunch and a shoe shopping trip to San Francisco with her husband. I’m waiting to find out whether it will it be Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutin, but she’s not giving up her secret.
Either way, I always love accompanying her when she goes clothes shopping. For Kaori, shoes and clothes are wearable art, and I love that she appreciates good style. It’s fun to watch her get excited about the lines and form of beautiful design.

I haven’t posted much lately because I’ve been focusing my energies on building my business. But Kaori and I took some time off yesterday and went to Santa Cruz to see if a camera repair shop could repair a lens. No luck on the lens, but we were able to spend a couple of hours downtown.
There was an exceptionally good band playing on the street.
There were people studying in the coffee shops.
And there were some very classy belly dancers performing and giving impromptu lessons.
